Bachelor Animation Degree
If you enjoyed art at school, or maybe are interested in short films, a bachelor animation degree could be what you are looking for in order to kick start your career in the world of animation. These programs take about four years to complete full time, although you may find more concentrated shorter ones. Animation is still big business, especially computer aided animation. The applications for animation are seemingly endless, from cell phone technology, through help assistants in popular office software, through to displays on white goods and music systems. A static icon is no longer enough to sate the appetite of consumers who want the latest and the very best equipment. This in itself may give you ideas of where you may find employment.
Over and above obvious places such as film studios, you might find work in software houses. Alternatively, you could work with an art and design agency producing bespoke animations for educational films or promotions. Another source of employment may be within the world of gaming, or even within a large industrial design unit producing white goods or cell phones.
You may learn a variety of techniques during your bachelor animation degree including: design and composition, acting and improvisation, perspective, layout, anatomy, animal anatomy, background, storyboarding, character design, and cartooning. During this time, you should also receive help in creating portfolio of your work to enable you to show potential employers what you have achieved and to showcase your talents.
