Associate Animation Degree
Animation is used in all sorts of applications from help files in popular office software, to cell phone hardware and even white good displays and in cars in on board computers. The days of a static icon are long gone. More obvious places where animation is used include gaming and films for education and entertainment. An associate animation degree generally lasts about two years. If, after graduation, you have been "bitten by the bug" you may be able to upgrade your associate animation degree into a bachelor. If this is something you think you might want to do, check that it is possible with your preferred school. Some school may accept previously taken courses in full or part.
An associate animation degree may offer you courses in animation, storyboarding, life drawing, animal drawing, articulation, backgrounds, textures, perspective, and achieving lighting techniques. You may want to specialize in a particular variety such as anime or backgrounds e.g. creating effects such as wind rippling through trees or grass. During your time, you should also receive help in constructing a portfolio. You can use this to showcase your talents to potential employers when you graduate.
Once you have graduated, you may find work in a design house, film studio, or software house. You might even decide to go down the route of working within industrial design creating animations to be used with in car entertainment systems, washing machines, fridge/freezers, or other kitchen appliances.
