Video Game Animation
If you are highly creative, have a lively imagination, and enjoy gaming, then video game animation training could be a good career move for you. Video game animation is far more complex than animation for films and presentations. You will need to be able to create storylines and characters. Characters need to display emotions in a consistent manner toward specific stimuli in order to build up a personality. As well as a good storyline to keep players engrossed, there should be a logical sequence of advancement in order to keep players interested in moving onto the next goal or level. There could well be scope for multiplayer versions too. Many gamers now demand ever more complex game play and lifelike animation. Most are looking for 3D and special effects. Gamers want to see the wrinkles on a character's face and to see hair (or fur) move in an authentic way.
Video game animation training varies considerably according to where you study. Make sure you get a copy of the curriculum to check that it is exactly what you want. Typically, you may study the following areas: character design, concept art creation, level design, human anatomy, perspective, body language, hand-drawn animation, principles of animation, character design, viewport manipulation, creating 3d models, low and high polygon models, game modeling, mapping processes, character mapping, project management and storyboarding, character animation, game animation, and advanced animation.
